As this long year draws to a close, we at Foragers are busy wrapping things up for Christmas. What a year it’s been! We’ve kept our copper pot still Eirianwen busy distilling all of 2020’s gorgeous plants, flowers, and fruits and she in turn has kept us warm in these chilly months. Though, I can’t begrudge the cold too much- the first frost of the year presents the perfect conditions for harvesting the sweet late-harvest sloe berries for our Soulful Sloe Gin, which naturally has to be distilled to the sweet sounds of Aretha Franklin and Ray Charles (they make excellent company while drinking it too!)
While I’m sure we will all agree that 2020 has been a wild year, we can take comfort in the knowledge that nature just keeps on keeping on, undeterred (at times even encouraged) by the harshest things the Welsh elements can throw at it. We’ll keep this in mind on these frigid winter mornings, but we look forward to Spring just the same!
For now we’ll curl up with a well earned G&T, and see if J. can finally finish reading The Picture of Dorian Grey before the year ends…
